Join us on this 8-day cycling tour on China's tropical island located in the South China Sea. This is an easy to moderate ride over gently rolling terrain through coconut plantations and along beaches. Visiting seaside villages along the way, there will time for evening strolls on the beach. Starting in Haikou, the capital of Hainan on the north side of the island, we will cycle down the east coast finishing at Yalong Bay in Sanya, China's luxurious beach front resort noted for its pristine beaches an clear water.

On the first day, the group will meet in Haikou and explore the sights of this coastal city including old town and the Five Officials Temple.

On Day 2, the group will cycle from Haikou to Wenchang past green tropical plantations. We will stay near the Qinglan harbor.

On the third day, the group will cycle mostly near the coast through rural villages to Boao, a small resort village area.

The following day, the group will cycle inland to the Xinglong Hot Springs Resort area. After a good long soak, we will visit the nearby botanical gardens.

On Day 5, we will have a leisurely cycle to Lingshui staying in a cabin with a private hot spring pool. We will also visit the the nearby pearl farms.

On the sixth day, we cycle to Yalong Bay in Sanya, where we will be staying two nights in one of the resort hotels. This bay is the jewel of Hainan Island with its pristine water and fine white sand beaches. Fine evenings on the beach are remembered long after returning home.

On Day 7, there will be a day-ride excursion partially using transport toward Hainan's highest peak and into the Li minority area to visit at Qixian National Forest Park. You will have the soft option of taking transport up the hill and cycling down back to your hotel in Yalong Bay. There will be a farewell dinner in the evening.

On the last day, have a leisurely morning beach walk and swim before we escort you to the Sanya International Airport for onward or homeward connections to Shanghai, Beijing or Guangzhou.

The prices are for double occupancy rooms, and will vary depending on the number of people who participate. This tour is limited to no more than eight people. This will permit more flexibility in the program and allow more spontaneity for taking photos or exploring villages along the way.

Prices include the following:
  1. Bilingual bicycle tour guide.
  2. All hotel room accommodations (double occupancy) for seven nights.
  3. Meals eaten as group (private meals, snacks and alcoholic beverages are not included).
  4. All group transportation costs.
  5. All group entrance fees.
  6. A Rental Bike with panniers, lock, raincape, gloves and helmet is included.

This will be a vehicle-supported ride. This means that each rider will carry their day-use items and a support vehicle will carry the luggage (and riders if necessary) throughout the trip.

If you decide to do something on your own, you will be responsible for those costs.

Cost depends on the total number of people going on the tour and the time of year. Below are the price per person (pp) and quoted in US dollars (US$) for non-holiday periods*:

An announcement of the cost of the tour will be made to the group 45-days prior to the start based on the number of registered members.

A deposit of $500 per person is required. This is fully refundable up to 45 days prior to the start of the tour. Submission of a deposit will guarantee your place on the tour. Balance is due at least 45 days prior to the beginning of the tour and payable by credit card, wire transfer, or personal check.
