This moderate cycling tour begins in Weihai, located on northeast end of the Shandong penisula in Shandong Province about 75 minutes from Beijing by air. This tour is intended for those with some cycle-touring experience as we will be carrying our gear in our own panniers. This will allow us to visit the more remote areas where we can then cycle and explore at a leisurely pace. The tour will be partially vehicle-supported, meaning there will be a guide, and we will utilize a vehicle when necessary.

Weihai is a port city with ferries from Korea other parts of China and is a relatively modern Chinese city.

We will meet you at the airport and will transfer to the hotel.

The first day starts with a leisurely ride along the Weihai waterfront and then head south to Wendeng on country roads along rolling hills.

On the second day we will cycle to Rushan near the south coast of the Shandong penisula and leave our gear at the hotel. Afterwards we will cycle to the resort and beach area.

On the third day we may transfer part way as the distance is fairly long and then cycle to another resort village of Yangkou.

On the last day, we will cycle along the coast to Qingdao through old town and then take a ferry to Huangdao across from the Qingdao bay, concluding our tour.

Group size: 1 - 8

Accommodations: Will be basic Chinese hotels generally of the 1-3 star variety. It may be necessary to use a 0-star hotel. The prices are for double occupancy rooms, and will vary depending on the number of people who participate.

Single room supplement: US$80

This tour is limited to no more than eight people. This will permit more flexibility in the program and allow more spontaneity for taking photos or exploring villages along the way.

Prices include the following:

1. All hotel accommodations for four nights.
2. All meals eaten as group (private meals, snacks and alcoholic beverages are not included).
3. All group transportation costs (buses, boats, and taxis) including from the Weihai airport.
4. All group entrance fees.
5. Optional Bicycle rental (US$0) including helmets, gloves and panniers.
6. Bilingual cycling tour guide.

This will be a self-supported ride. This means that riders will carry their own gear in panniers. A vehicle will when necessary to reach the next destination.

If you decide to do something on your own, you will be responsible for those costs.

Cost: Prices depend on the total number of people going on the tour and the time of year. Below is the price per person (pp) and quoted in US dollars (US$) for non-holiday periods*:

An announcement of the cost of the tour will be made to the group 45-days prior to the start based on the number of registered members.

A deposit of $500 per person is required. This is fully refundable up to 45 days prior to the start of the tour. Submission of a deposit will guarantee your place on the tour. Balance is due at least 45 days prior to the beginning of the tour and payable by credit card, wire transfer, or personal check.
